Story Synopsis:
Final Destination is a creepy horror-thriller centering around psychic phenomenon. When Alex Browning (Sawa) has a premonition that the plane he and his friends are about to take to France explodes, he freaks out and is thrown off the plane along with a few of his friends. The flight does indeed blow up, and now Alex is being investigated by the FBI. But there’s a whole lot more to this gripping story.... (Laurie Sevano)

DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits sharp and detailed images, though some scenes appear somewhat hazy. Colors are rich and vibrant, with good balance and deep blacks. Contrast and shadow delineation are nicely rendered. The picture has a bit of a hard edge, but overall imagery is pleasing. Edge enhancement is also evident, but never really distracts.

Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital 5.1-channel soundtrack has been re-equalized for home listening. Despite a slightly muted character, the sonic presentation is of good fidelity and aggressive dimensional utilization. The soundstage is consistently wide and deep with ample split surround envelopment. The dialogue is somewhat of a letdown however, with compromised spatial integration. The music score is impressive-sounding, with a presence that penetrates the soundstage with a good low-end foundation. This is a subwoofer-worthy soundtrack, with occasionally intense sub-25Hz frequencies in all channels.

DVD-ROM Review:
The DVD-ROM main menu for this title is a great little Flash presentation of a plane exploding, leading you into four new links. These links are Play the Movie, Script-to-Screen, Original Website, and Hot Spot.

The script is done much like some of the newer New Line Cinema releases, with an all white area for the script, and more in character images for the backgrounds of the sections surrounding the script. I really do not like this presentation. Other then that, everything works well, with easy to use links for viewing each chapter, and even a link to view the alternate ending. You can also print each chapter or the entire script if you choose.

After clicking the Original Website link, you are brought to the original theatrical Website as it was when this disc was completed. This Web site contains a plethora of information ranging from cast and crew biographies to photos to tests on your psychic abilities. This site is very well done, with a very dark theme that ties into the movie well. The cast and crew biographies are a little bit weird, as they are just all thrown together, with no real way of going directly to a specific person. To test your psychic abilities, click on the "Your Psychic Eye" link, and then click the image that reads, "Do you have Psychic powers?" You must have an Internet connection established to do this. Also in this area is the Death Clock, which will tell you how long you have to live. I was a little bit scared when I found I will die before my 40th birthday, but I guess everyone has to go sometime.
After clicking the Hot Spot, I was brought to a broken link at New Line's Web page. I then went to the New Line Web page to maybe get a little information on the problem, to find that all the Final Destination sites were down. Hopefully by its release date everything will be up and running smoothly.

When playing the movie from the PCFriendly software, it loads quickly to the DVD Video main menu, which looks great even on PC's.
Everything included is very nice, with a great theme throughout the components. The small error in the script section hurt the score a fraction, but what really hurt it is the lack of a game. I can think of tons of great games that could have been included with this title, maybe bringing in the psychic ability test into any of them. Even without a game, I only live once (and not for much longer it appears), so I am going to snub this title of that Awesome rating. (Danny Richelieu)
