Story Synopsis:
With bad guys hot on his trail, Jon Cold (Seagal) travels from France to Germany in an attempt to deliver a package. They don’t know what they’re up against, however, because he’s the biggest, baddest tough guy around and he’ll stop at nothing until the job is done. With lots of shoot ’em-up nonstop action, "The Foreigner" manages to stay one step ahead of his enemies as he fights to get the package delivered on time. (Tricia Littrell)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits a picture that is sharp and crisp, with pleasing clarity and definition. Colors are nicely balanced, with accurate fleshtones, rich hues, and deep blacks. Edge enhancement can be a problem, especially surrounding images shot in the cold, gray exteriors. Pixelization can cause minor breakup of finer details. There is some dirt noticed in the source element. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital 5.1-channel audio presentation is distinguished, featuring a music score that nicely envelops, and sometimes has a fully engulfing surround presence. Of course, being that this is a Steven Seagal film, there are the dimensionally aggressive instances including shootouts and explosions. In additional to the frequent onslaughts of spatial activity, your subwoofer will get quite a workout as well, with a lot of LFE activity to boot. Fidelity overall is very good, and voices sound remarkably natural and spatially integrated. Another standout aspect of this soundtrack is the use of dynamic range, especially with the sudden onset of gunfire in Chapter 20. (Perry Sun)
