Production codes for the 3rd season are different from the previous seasons. The 4 digit number no longer tells you the production order, but is now used to list the airing order of an episode. 34. Finding Rachel (2)

NOTE: Although Frank Whaley's name is listed in the credits, he does not appear in this episode (he was only in Part 1).
The episode wrap-up at the USA Network web site lists an extra scene at the end, where Johnny "meets" with Whaley again in the future but Whaley is attacked by future-survivors before he can answer.
The full script for this episode on the official site expands on the extra scene mentioned above, which was omitted from the aired episode. In the scene, Wey shows Johnny the reason that he is being pursued by the survivors before he is attacked. This reason is later revealed and used in the season finale.

This is the third time in the series where two people with active dead zones have shared a vision in the past and future: Johnny and the Indian shaman in S1's "Shaman", Johnny and Christopher Wey in S2's "Visions", and this episode, where Johnny shares a vision with himself in the past.

    36. Cold Hard Truth
    gs: Richard Lewis (Jack Jericho)

When shock jock Jack Jericho who spews venomous attacks on the airwaves gets a concussion from being beaten by a group of bikers he offended, the most unlikely person comes to his aid. Johnny who is the target of Jack's many radio bashings becomes concerned that the radio host's self-destructive behavior is leading him down a path that would end in his death. In the midst of all this, Johnny attempts to help Walt and Sarah with J.J. who is having problems at school and at home.

    b: 27-Jun-2004 pc: 1-3004 w: Michael Taylor d: Anthony Michael Hall

NOTE: This episode marks Anthony Michael Hall's directorial debut on the series.
Michael Richards was originally slated to play Jack Jericho, but he had to pass on the role due to personal family reasons.
"Cold Hard Truth" was the first episode produced for the third season.
This is the episode where J.J. finds out that Johnny is really his biological father.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    37. Total Awareness
gs: Jeanie Cloutier (Agent Roth) Karin Konoval (Sylvia Tesich) Phillip Mitchell (Adams) Michael Roberds (Jack Fitch) Lauren Lee Smith (Bonnie Gibson) Aaron Douglas (Rob Coulter) Kevin McNulty (Dr, Scanlon) Diego Diablo Del Mar (Neal Pynchon)

    b: 04-Jul-2004 pc: 3-3005 w: Michael Cassutt d: Kevin Speckmaier

NOTE: As of this episode on, the regular series intro intro explaining the core events of the series is changed. Instead of Johnny saying, "My son doesn't know who I am," he says of Walt and Sarah, "...and they're raising my son."
Lauren Lee Smith also played a psychic on Mutant X, although she was an empath, not a seer.
Government psychic Sylvia Tesich returns after appearing in last season's The Hunt. This is most likely her final appearance.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

gs: Sarah Wynter (Rebecca Caldwell) Robert Iler (Derek Fitz) Judge Reinhold (Principal Rowin)

While at the school Johnny gets a vision of a student going on a shooting spree and must find out who it is before it's too late.

    b: 08-Aug-2004 pc: 9-3007 w: Jill Blotevogel s: Michael R. Perry & Jill Blotevogel d: Ellie Kanner

NOTE: The USANetwork site lists Robert Iler's character as "Derek Rankin," even though their episode wrap-up and the fake news article correctly refer to him as "Derek Fitz."
The wrap-up at the USANetwork site refers to a parent-teacher meeting that occurs after the bomb is discovered, that we don't see on-screen.
There were two alternate endings for this episode: 1) Derek holds his empty hands up as Johnny checks his pockets and shows the guards the cell phone. The guards and the principle look ashamed; 2) Derek freezes after Johnny yells at the guards to stop. He slowly pulls out a cell phone and says he just wanted to call the principle. The principle is shocked and ashamed.
In the story's wrap up on the USA Network site, there is a short account of the aftermath of the shooting. The account states that Fitz lived at the end of the shooting, but the USA synopsis says he died. On screen it is left vague.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    42. Instinct
gs: David Ogden Stiers (Rev. Gene Purdy) Ronald Selmour (Ted Keane)

A series of wild and domestic animal attacks lay at the heart of a mystery that Johnny must solve before the entire town is destroyed.

    b: 15-Aug-2004 pc: 8-3008 w: Erin Maher & Kay Reindl d: Mike Rohl

NOTE: Ron(ald) Seymour was a semi-regular on another Stephen King-based series: Kingdom Hospital. That series also ended with a major disaster.
Nicole de Boer doesn't have any dialogue in this episode.
This episode bears some resemblance plotwise to the "Millennium" episode, "Beware of the Dog." This is perhaps by design, as Erin Maher and Kay Reindl were staff writers on that show.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    43. Shadows
gs: Natassia Malthe (Tyler) Scott Bellis (Tattoed Salesman)

Johnny must unravel a series of future visions of himself killing a man in revenge for the death of someone close to him.

    b: 22-Aug-2004 pc: 11-3011 w: Michael Taylor d: Shawn Piller

NOTE: The motel clerk is reading a book by Richard Bachman (the cover art indicates it is THINNER). Richard Bachman was a pen name for Stephen King.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    44. Tipping Point (1)
gs: Sean Patrick Flanery (Greg Stillson) Sarah Wynter (Rebecca Caldwell) David Ogden Stiers (Rev. Gene Purdy) Frank Whaley (Christopher Wey) Tom O'Brien (Dr. Jaeger) Sonja Bennett (Rachel Caldwell) Gary Chalk (James Stillson) Michael Kopsa (Jake Truax)

    b: 22-Aug-2004 pc: 12-3012 w: Karl Schaefer d: Michael Robison

NOTE: John L. Adams doesn't appear in this episode.
One of the names on the voting machine is "Ronald Torrance" - Torrance was the name of the family in King's The Shining.
