Special Notes:

Story Synopsis:
Beverly Hills Cop II is director Tony Scott’s action comedy sequel with Murphy’s Axel Foley on another undercover investigation back in Southern California against a gang of drug smugglers. (Gary Reber)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD exhibits a satisfying picture, with images are sharp and nicely detailed, though at times lacking in definition and clarity. Colors are rich and well balanced, with accurate fleshtones and deep, endless blacks. Edge enhancement can be quite bothersome, and pixelization creates a digitally harsh appearance. The source element is usually quite clean, though there are a few scenes in which film grain is overly perceived. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital 5.1-channel remastered soundtrack, like the original, features Harold Faltermeyer’s familiar music, which has been quite nicely repurposed, though not quite as compelling as in the original movie in terms of envelopment. Overall, the audio also sounds a little more noticeably dated than the previous movie as well. The sonic character of the soundstage is quite dimensional and expansive in nature, and the surrounds figure actively with both music and effects. The low-end isn’t particularly prodigious but ample with the music and a few effects, with very limited .1 LFE engagement. (Perry Sun)
