Season 3
45. When Irish Eyes Are Crying
gs: Liam Neeson (Sean Carroon) Jeff Fahey (Eddie Kaye) Daniel Gerroll (Richard Cross) Paul Gleason (Bunny Berrigan) Walter Gotell (Max Klizer)
Gina is skeptical when a zealous Scotland Yard inspector labels her new love as a wanted terrorist working for the IRA.
b: 26-Sep-1986 w: Dick Wolf & John Leekley s: John Leekley d: Mario Di Leo
NOTE: There was talk of a two-hour episode in which Crockett and Tubbs would go to Ireland, but that idea was eventually scrapped.
• Jeff Fahey starred in the short-lived 90s series "The Marshal", a show executive produced by Don Johnson.
• It's the first (and only) time that a song by a Beatle is heard on "Vice": John Lennon's "Imagine".
• It is the end of an era as Sonny's Ferrari Daytona bites the dust, blown to bits by Jeff Fahey's character. The reasoning behind it was simple: Ferrari offered the show use of several Testerosas in exchange for a credit on the show. It served Ferrari well since Sonny's Daytona was a fake. It was actually a Corvette modified by a kit.

NOTE: Originally intended as the first episode of the 1986-87 season, it was pushed back because Don Johnson was in a dispute with Universal and NBC over a pay raise; reportedly the hijinx threw off Willie Nelson's busy schedule and he nearly backed out. Johnson returned to the set when Michael Mann reportedly leaked plans to replace Johnson with Mark Harmon.
• Willie Nelson appears on Don Johnson's 1986 album, "Heartbeat", singing harmony on "Star Tonight".

57. Down for the Count (2)
gs: Joe Dallesandro (Alfredo Giulinni) Mark Breland (Bobby Sykes) Pepe Serna (Oswaldo Guzman) Chris Elliott (Denny Allred) Robert Pastorelli (Vespa)
Switek is outraged by Internal Affairs' findings; Crockett and Tubbs' TV gambit may prove fatal when a mobster reclaims the action lost to Guzman.
b: 16-Jan-1987 w: Dick Wolf & John Schulian s: Dick Wolf d: Richard Compton
NOTE: Joe Dallesandro was in the first year episode, "One Eyed Jack".
• Robert Pastorelli was days away from sitcom stardom on "Murphy Brown".
• Chris Elliot was an Emmy-winning writer/performer on "Late Night With David Letterman"; he also appeared in an episode of "The Equalizer".
• No one knows the exact reason why Zito was killed off. John Diehl says he was not satisifed with his part on the show. But it was reported at the time that Universal Television wanted the budget trimmed after a disappointed dip in ratings during the troubled second season of the series. It would seem the latter was more the reason, since Diehl was never replaced.
• We find out Zito was afraid of needles, and that he collected snow globes. We also see the apartment he moved into after his house burned down in the first season episode, "Made For Each Other".
• Instead of the closing credits that features various Miami landscapes, these particular credits show captures of Zito (and Switek) from various episodes; the theme remains in place.
• Don Johnson and John Diehl were investors in the boxing career of Mark Breland.
• Pepe Serna previously appeared in the second season episode, "Yankee Dollar".
• When some people are eavesdropping on a phone call, someone's typing on a computer that is most evidently from the Commodore Amiga family. This I can tell by the shape of the mouse pointer and the design of the window on the screen.
